HELPFUL TIPS & ADVICE FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY…
I’ve photographed lots of weddings over the years, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the best days are the ones where couples feel relaxed and just enjoy themselves. This little page is full of handy tips and gentle reminders to help things run smoothly and take a bit of pressure off.
❋ Build in More Time Than You Think
Allow buffer time between prep, ceremony, and travelAdd 10–15 minutes for unexpected delays (traffic, guests, nerves!)A relaxed timeline = better photos
❋ Keep Your Morning Calm
Your morning sets the tone for the day.Avoid overcrowded prep roomsLay out key details early (dress, shoes, jewellery, invites)Eat something — even if it’s just a snack!
❋ Light Matters (Especially in the UK!)
Natural light is everything.Choose bright rooms for getting ready where possibleOpen curtains fully and switch lamps offIf you’re choosing a ceremony time, earlier gives you more daylight (especially in autumn/winter)
☁️ Overcast days are actually perfect for photos — soft, flattering light!
❋ Trust the Weather (plan b)
Rain is always a possibility in the UK — but it doesn’t ruin photos.Clear umbrellas photograph beautifullyVenues often have lovely covered areasSome of the most romantic photos happen in light rain
✨ Be open-minded — we’ll make it work.
Keep Group Photos Simple
Group photos work best when:You limit them to close family & key peopleYou nominate someone who knows everyone to help gather guestsYou plan them immediately after the ceremony
This keeps things efficient and stress-free.From then on it is purely candids for the rest of the day.
Don’t Worry About “Posing”
You don’t need to know what to do — that’s my job!
When walking down the aisle or during confetti:
Take it slow
Hold hands
Look at each other
For confetti take it slow and stop half way for a kiss, maybe even a dip kiss (super romantic!)
These moments create the most natural, emotional photos.
Walk Slowly (And Take It In!)
Keep Phones Away During Key Moments
During the ceremony ask your registrar to announce your ceremony as ‘Unplugged’, meaning no phones. You wouldn’t believe over the years how many shots of couples walking back down the aisle have been ruined by guests sticking their phones out during this moment, blocking my view of the couple.
AIM TO DO YOUR SPEECHES BEFORE YOUR MEAL
There’s a few reasons why this is recommended:
Anyone who is nervous about making a speech will enjoy their meal much more if they get their speech out of the way first.
The tables are clean for photos, and no food stains down clothing
Take a Moment Just for You Two
Even just 60 seconds together to breathe and take it all in.
Trust Your Suppliers
You’ve chosen them for a reason.Let go of perfectionIf something small goes wrong, guests won’t noticeCalm couples create calm days
Evening Guests Matter Too
Evening moments are often much more relaxed, care-free and fun. The best time for candids!
“Working with Bex was seamless from start to finish. I loved her vibe on Instagram but after our initial zoom consultation I knew she was the perfect person to share our big day with.”

some more frequently asked questions…
We’re awkward in front of the camera, will that be a problem?
1
Not at all! Almost every couple says this. I’ll guide you in a very relaxed way, and you’ll never be asked to do anything uncomfortable. Most couples forget the camera is even there.
What happens if it rains?
2
No stress at all! Rain is very common at UK weddings, and I always have a plan. Covered areas, umbrellas, and soft light can create beautiful, romantic photos. Also utilising your beautiful venue indoors. Plus there’s almost always dry moments where we can pop outside if you wish.
Can guests take photos too?
3
Of course! I only recommend keeping phones away during key moments like the ceremony, so your photos stay clean and unobstructed. It is really important for your guests to also capture their own fun moments.
Will you contact us before the wedding?
4
Yes — I will check in 6 months before your wedding just to see how things are going, and we’ll have a check-in a few weeks before to go through final details, timings and any questions. This is often done over a Zoom call to ensure all details on your booking form are correct. I then drop in 3-4 days before to reassure you.
